History
Body in Balance was established in 2007 as the UK’s first leisure and health channel. It now reaches 10m homes as Channel 275 on the Sky network. The company's main revenue growth has come from global programme distribution, where BiB has developed an expertise which is envied by other niche channels. BiB is the leading yoga and wellness TV brand in Germany and the channel won a prestigious German TV award in 2009. Since June 2008 BiB’s European network has grown from four to 29 channel platforms.
The company has a back catalogue of 400 hours of high-quality material. Programmes or programme packages are licensed to broadcasters throughout the world, with recent major sales in China and India. In January 2010, BiB launched an English/Mandarin language version of the channel on ChinaSat for transmission in Taiwan. In September 2010, it will launch on the Astro platform in Australia.
BIB has a DVD library of over 40 titles and releases two new ones each month. Sales are through RSK, a major UK retail distributor, to high street stores and supermarkets, Amazon and other major online sites. BiB also sells from its own website shop. In Germany, BiB has a distribution arrangement with Rough Trade, a major retailer. BiB has entered into a similar agreement with Sterling Worldwide to distribute its products in the US.
